How We Started: Breaking the Grip of Commission Aggregators
The journey of GoYourHotel began with a simple, frustrating observation across India’s hospitality landscape. While traveling and interacting with independent boutique hotel owners, homestay hosts, and resort managers in bustling cities and heritage destinations like Ajmer, Udaipur, Jaipur, and Manali, we uncovered a harsh reality.
Hoteliers who invested their life savings, took care of guests, and maintained beautiful properties were giving away up to 30% to 35% of their total booking revenue to giant corporate Online Travel Agencies (OTAs). On top of that, these aggregators withheld customer contact details, masked guest identities, delayed payouts for weeks, and forced hoteliers into ruinous price-undercutting wars.
On the other side, guests were subjected to hidden convenience markups, fake room photos, and rigid cancellation policies. We asked ourselves: "Why should a technology middleman take a massive slice of a hotelier's profit when all they do is list a webpage?"
